This is the latest philanthropic effort by Ossining AYSO.  In the past, we’ve donated used uniforms to children in El Salvador and Namibia via Maryknoll lay missionary Mary Beth Gallagher.  If you know of similar worthy causes, please contact Regional Comissioner Philip Ishmael, 497-7780.

· Ossining kids can help KickAIDS!  Ossining AYSO is proud to support KickAIDS (www.kickAIDS.org), a fundraising campaign aimed at fighting the spread of HIV in Africa by empowering children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay HIV-free.  To learn more please contact Claire Yergeau at 914-941-5608 or PettittePower596@aol.com (write "Ossining AYSO KickAIDS" in the subject line).

The AYSO Philosophy:

Everyone Plays - Every child receives equal playing time, regardless of skill, and plays a minimum of half of each game, and generally much more.

Open Registration - We use sign-ups not tryouts. Our programs are open to all children between the ages of 4 1/2 and 18, attending school within our three-village community. As long as there s space on a team, every child who signs up will play. Here are the age guidelines used by our region.

Balanced Teams - We organize all teams to be as evenly balanced as possible. We do not emphasize winning, nor do we keep standings. We emphasize fun and learning.

Positive Coaching - We build soccer skills and self-esteem through encouragement and teaching.

Good Sportsmanship - Our programs promote positive behavior on field and sidelines. We teach lessons for life, as well as soccer.
